Thomas Francis LAVERTY was born 28th November, 1885*. His parents were John LAVERTY and Mary Ellen BOWEN. He can be found in the 1891 and 1901 censuses. He married Sarah Alice MANCHESTER on 10th August, 1910, at the Manchester Register Office*. Thomas Francis LAVERTY, age 24. Bachelor. A Vanman. Residing at 19 Catherine Street, London Road. Father, John LAVERTY (deceased). A Chain Polisher.
Sarah Alice MANCHESTER, age 20. Spinster. Residing at 14 Dolefield, Deansgate. Father, Henry MANCHESTER. A Builder's Laborer.
Married in the Register Office by certificate before me F.(?) Gilbert, Registrar, and J.(?) Macdonald (?), Superintendent Registrar.

Death of Thomas Francis LAVERTY [transcription of certificate]
Died October 9, 1956. Thomas Francis LAVERTY, age 71. Body recovered from River Irwell, Salford, at Pomona Dock, Old Trafford, October 14, 1956. Lately residing at 65 Sunnyside Street Salford 5, a retired Motor Driver. Cause of death, Coronary thrombosis accelerated by sudden immersion in cold water through falling in the River Irwell. Accidental Death. Information provided by certificate received from D. G. Ralphs, Coroner for County of Lancaster. Inquest held 16th October, 1956. Death Registered 19th October, 1956.

When I first started exploring my family tree I obtained these certificates thinking that this Thomas was my grandfather. I believe that if followed back far enough, this line of LAVERTYs is probably related to my line. I have not been able to prove this, however.
